March 2024

Attendees: Badger, Barber
Wainwrights completed: Sour Howes, Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell, Frostwick, The Tongue

Barber and myself headed back to the Lake District for the weekend on 15th March 2024. Bri was supposed to join us but pulled out due to illness.

We both arrived the the YHA Windermere fairly late on the Friday after the long journeys, so made a quick plan for the following day over a pint and glass of vino tinto then headed to bed.

Up early the following morning, we set off hiking at 6:30am down the quiet misty lane. We decided to walk to the start point instead of fannying about trying to find somewhere to park, even though it added a few miles on!

Reaching the top of the first Wainwright, Sour Howes, after a steep acescent, we took in the none existent views that would be common theme for most of the day!

Ticking off Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell and Froswick, all with no views, on the descent of Froswick we finally had a break in the clouds and were able to see The Tongue, the final peak of the day.

As the sun shone, we crested The Tongue and then headed to the pub for a nice pint of fake Guinness, which wasn't actually that bad, before heading back to the hostel.

On the evening we got a taxi to Kendal to watch and amazing gig, BC Camplight plus support from William Doyle.

Sunday was supposed to be a short walk up a Wainwright close by but the weather was shit so we decided against it!
